Air monitoring with passive samplers for dioxin-like persistent organic pollutants in developing countries (2017–2019)

چکیده
As part of the global monitoring plan on persistent organic pollutants (GMP) under Stockholm Convention passive air samplers equipped with polyurethane foam disks (PUFs) were applied to monitor dioxin-like POPs. For sampling, toluene-pretreated PUFs exposed for three months during two years. Chemical analysis was performed in one accredited expert laboratory using internationally accepted methods; comparison, all results normalized PUF and 3 month exposure. Total TEQs, WHO2005-TEFs, lowest Pacific Islands countries (PAC) had similar mean values Africa (16.8 pg TEQ/PUF), Asia (16.9 Latin American Caribbean (GRULAC, 13.3 TEQ/PUF). Using median values, (13.4 TEQ/PUF) GRULAC (13.1 higher amounts than (6.1 PAC (2.1 The contribution PCDD/PCDF total TEQ 2-3-times from dl-PCB. Characterization of polymer coated glass as a passive air sampler for persistent organic pollutants.
The use of thin-film polymer-coated glass surfaces or POGs as passive air samplers was investigated during an uptake experiment in an indoor environment with high levels of gas-phase polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). POGs consisted of a micron thick layer of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) coated onto glass cylinders. The uptake was initially linear with time and governed by the air-side mass tran...
متن کاملAccelerated solvent extraction (ASE) for purification and extraction of silicone passive samplers used for the monitoring of organic pollutants
Silicone passive samplers have gained an increasing attention as single-phased, practical and robust samplers for monitoring of organic contaminants in the aquatic environment in recent years. However, analytical challenges arise in routine application during the extraction of analytes as silicone oligomers are co-extracted and interfere severely during chemical analyses (e.g. gas chromatograph...
متن کاملCluster analysis of passive air sampling data based on the relative composition of persistent organic pollutants.
The development of passive air samplers has allowed the measurement of time-integrated concentrations of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) within spatial networks on a variety of scales. Cluster analysis of POP composition may enhance the interpretation of such spatial data. Several methodological aspects of the application of cluster analysis are discussed, including the influence of a domi...
متن کاملPersistent Organic Pollutants ("POPs")
Strictly speaking, all toxins entering the environment can be regarded as environmental poisons. Certain pollutants can, acting over long periods, harm living organisms even in low concentrations. This means that pollutants that are stable and thus persistent have a great ability to act as environmental poisons. Their stability means not only that their effects are long-lasting, but also that t...
متن کاملSerum Persistent Organic Pollutants
Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are manmade organic chemicals that remain in the environment for years or decades. POPs are of special concern because they often remain toxic for decades or longer after release to the environment. The more persistent a toxic chemical is, the greater the probability for human exposure over time. Because they circulate globally long after being released into...
